The loss of a loved one is one of the most painful facts of life.

physically I am at work again, but my mind, heart and spirit are definately else where.

My thoughts are with my grandma who passed away on friday. I feel lucky I was able to be with her at the end, I would like to think that she knew dad and I were there with her when she crossed over, and that she could hear us and take some comfort from our presence. I hope she knows how much I love her and ho...w strongly I pray she is in a better place. I have to look at this as a release for her as she suffered severe dementia in the last few years of life.

But I miss her so much. And like a selfish child I want her back, and its hard to just push past everything, and its only been four days and I dont feel I should have to. Or at least not yet, because I'm not ready to.

I am looking forward to my coast to coast hike, grandma would be proud of me, and it will give me a week to clear my head. My hike will be dedicated to her memory, but stands for all the others who have or are suffering dementia.

I am hiking the width of England, following Hadrian's Wall (this should stop me getting lost!) and will be donating to Dementia UK (www.dementiauk.org/) Charity Registration No. 1039404 - Dementia UK is a national charity committed to improving quality of life for all people affected by dementia.

My Promise:
• I intend to cover all my own costs so the maximum amount can go to charity.
• I intend to complete this challenge within a week
• My target is to raise £1000
• On average I will be hiking 15 -20 miles per day in order to cover approximately 100 miles within one week.

And easy and simple way to sponsor me is through my website www.justgiving.com/Ruth-Walter You will also be able to follow my progress on the website, the challenge will begin 2nd June.

Your support is greatly appreciated!

I'm late to this journal. I'm sorry. But I know how you feel, and I am truly sorry for your loss.
